Wrigley Dog...(a.k.a. Little Miss Diva)

Our little Yorkie, Wrigley, had been in our family for almost 2 years now. She is an adorable, spirited, mischievous, oh-so-loving little puppy who stole my heart the moment they brought her out of the back room of the pet shop. She was in the back room because she had a cold and had to be kept away from the other dogs to "get better." Now that I know her, she was probably lounging in the back room on a gold throne eating bacon covered biscuits!

As we anxiously await our tiny baby, who will enter into our family later this year, Chad and I worry about how little Wrigley will cope. She is definitely a little attention hoarder; it will be interesting to see how she handles a baby who will definitely take the spotlight. Hopefully, our little bambino and diva dog will grow to love each other! :-)

13 Weeks

13 Weeks
I've hit the second trimester and I welcome it with open arms! The first trimester was rough. I experienced pretty rough morning sickness which mainly struck during the late afternoon and evening. I am so thankful I didn't experience any of that during the work day; I can only imagine how me running to the trash can to make a deposit would have went over with a room full of middle schoolers! After feeling pretty crummy for the past couple of months, I am looking forward to the beloved 2nd trimester so many have told me about!

My tummy is definitely starting to make an appearance. It's starting to look more like a preggo belly instead of looking like I've snacked on too many doughnuts! I've been having more stretching pains in my abdomen and, although they are uncomfortable, I get excited to know our little bambino is growing!

We are excited to make our pregnancy known to the world tomorrow! We're pumped for our extended family and friends to find out (via Facebook) and all of the people we work with. I know my brother is chomping at the bit for us to tell so he doesn't have to keep it a secret anymore! :-) We had our good friend, Sara, take our pregnancy announcement pictures this weekend. They are AWESOME! I can't wait to share our news (and her amazing talent) with everyone!

1st Ultrasound

This was THE most exciting day of our pregnancy so far. On March 15th, we had our first ultrasound appointment. Not only was this the most exciting day ever, but Chad and I were blessed to have the nicest ultrasound technician in NKY! We love Monica! she confirmed our due date of October 20th! Exciting!!

The moment I was able to see our little bundle of joy, I was in tears....tears of joy! That moment was so special for Chad and me. And then...we heard the heartbeat of our little bambino. 170 beats a minute! Wow! Hearing the heartbeat made everything even more real for us.

Our ultrasound technician showed us everything on the little squishy blob in my belly. I felt like Rachel on Friends, where she didn't have a clue what she was looking at on the ultrasound picture! :) I was, again, thankful for Monica! At 8 weeks 5 days, there were arm and leg buds and our babies brain was forming. CRAZY AMAZING!! Our little one was also moving around...a lot! The baby was flipping back and forth (I didn't even know that was possible!). I think he/she was posing for the camera!

When looking at this little miracle growing inside my belly, I can't imagine a life without knowing and believing in God. He is knitting this little life together one strand at a time. "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart." Jeremiah 1:5a

Big News!

The next adventure of our lives has begun...starting a family!! ( I cant help but have a huge grin on my face as I type this!!). Chad and I found out about our little miracle on Saturday, February 9th. We had gone to Kroger for groceries and I (secretly) stopped by "the aisle" to pick up a pregnancy test. I just "had a feeling." Now, I'm not sure if anyone is like me, but I've taken TONS of pregnancy tests when I just..."had a feeling." Chad always cutely teases me about my little idiosyncrasies, one of which is taking pregnancy tests whenever the wind blows just right! ;-) Well, this time...God had a surprise for us! It was positive!!

The flood of emotions I felt was almost overwhelming! I felt excited, terrified, overjoyed, nervous, and immediately protective of the little miracle! The thought of telling Chad was both exciting and scary! Instead of telling Chad in a cutesy "Pinterest" kind of way, I decided to run out of the bathroom and waive the freshly peed-on stick in front of his face. I don't even remember the words we spoke to each other, but the love, excitement, and anxious energy in that moment is like nothing I've felt before!

After settling down a bit (I was totally out of breath from jumping up and down!), I immediately downloaded every single pregnancy app there was to figure out our due date. October 20th seemed to be the day our little miracle would enter the world.

My God is good and I believe He knew the best timing for our family to grow! Baby Harrison will be here AFTER I'm done with my NKU degree (phew!). We pray (and ask you to pray) that our baby grows healthy and safe in my belly. We thank God for His blessing in our little miracle!
